The US Defense Attaché to Serbia, COL Paul Brotzen, and the Acting Head of the Serbian Ministry of Defense Department for International Military Cooperation, COL Predrag Kraljević, signed on 26 January a Protocol Agreement between the US Department of Defense and the Serbian MoD on the transferring of 17 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs).
Later this year, the US Department of Defense will provide to the Serbian Armed Forces 17 new HMMWVs, along with spare parts and tools, at a total value of $2.9 million. The vehicles will be provided through the use of a grant by the US government to the Serbian MoD. The signing of the protocol is an important administrative step towards its completion.
These will be the first HMMWVs ever acquired by the SAF. The purchase demonstrates the continuing and deepening military cooperation between the US and the Serbian Armed Forces.
